Beer du Jour-sunday the 13th

June 13, 2010

Seeing as how blogging from the United States is difficult to do prior to game time, today’s Beer du Jour will celebrate the happenings of earlier today. It was an exciting day in the world cup, highlighted by the exciting Ghana win over Serbia, but punctuated emphatically by Germany’s demolition of the Socceroos. Seeing as how I predicted a disappointing World Cup for Germany, I’m more than willing to give credit where credit is due. And today, the Germans, specifically Klose, Podolski, and Muller, deserve a great deal of credit. The goals scored were not only numerous, but spectacular in styling. They had their way with the inadequate Australian side that did give our defense problems a week ago. All in all, it was a delicious performance and so the beer choice is reflective of such.

More after the jump…

Tastes even better after a 4-0 win.

Augustinerbrau is a brewer of beer with a reputation so strong that the brewery doesn’t even advertise for their brews.  Extremely popular around the Munich area, Americans searching for the beer would have to travel to Pennsylvania to find the singular stateside distributor.  If you are lucky enough to be in an area with such beer selection, look for the Augustiner Helles brand and savor the dominating performance of the German national team.
